JOIN FORCES WITH NIKE AIR FORCE 1 AND THE ARCHIVE COLLECTIVE, THE CREATOR COMMUNITY THAT IS PUSHING CULTURE FORWARD
Join Forces with Nike Air Force 1 and the Archive Collective, the creator community that is pushing culture forward.
Powered by the unifying symbol of the Air Force 1, the Archive Collective features local creatives at the forefront of the next generation sharing their knowledge, ideas, and experience in a series of Creator Sessions #JoinForces
Not bound by a discipline or convention, Archive’s creator community joins together diverse individuals using the power of creativity and community to drive culture forward. Drawing inspiration from each other, the Air Force 1 is a unifying symbol between their worlds of fashion, music, and creativity. Hosted by The Archive Collective on the 29th and 30th of November, two Creator Sessions in sound and visuals will culminate in a Air Force 1 40th Anniversary celebration on First Thursdays, 1 December 2022.
Lwazi Madonsela
Celebrating the history and cultural power of the Air Force 1, the Archive Collective is designed to inspire, support and celebrate what’s possible when we join forces. Dreaming up new ways to propel culture across creative forms, the sessions are led by a diverse group of visionaries whose work traverses disciplines with ease, imagination and intent. Facilitated by talented storyteller Lwazi Madonsela (@Umsindisiwesiko), the creator of the street culture podcast Cnr Juta & De Beer, the sessions bring a creativity community together to draw inspiration, knowledge, and skills from each other.
Shala ‘The Unicorn’
Multidisciplinary visual artist Shala The Unicorn captures the essence of this, saying: “I remember the AF1 being a classic staple in everyone’s closet, whether you were into fashion, design, or sport. I’ve always seen it as a bridge between those worlds.” She is joined by digital creator and designer Sonia Tona on the visual session held on November 29. “Surrounding yourself with different creatives teaches you new skills and abilities to add to your processes”, Sonia adds.

Mamthug
As someone whose work is grounded in actively creating community and curating platforms for the next generation and her peers, creative force Mamthug knows the possibilities and potential of coming together. “As a growing community with limited resources we have had to rely on each other by collaborating and sharing our resources. It’s a mutually beneficial ecosystem”, she says. At the sound masterclass on November 30, she will collaborate with producer, DJ and songwriter Yolophonik, before they take to the decks to showcase their skills at the official afterparty on December 1st.
Yolophonik
From different backgrounds, disciplines and perspectives, The Creator Community defies limits and pushes possibilities, united by a common goal – working to propel and expand our culture and stretching the boundaries of creativity to do so. As Yolophonik says, “To me, a unit is much stronger than an individual. We must Join Forces, Come together, and support one another. There's no need for you to venture alone.”
