Pharrell and Nigo’s friendship and partnership is one that should be admired as it has stood the test of time, through trends and seasons the two have been locked in. It is no wonder why the anticipation for P’s collection with his long-time collaborator was at an all-time high. The question is, did it live up to the hype?

Before going into the show and the pieces, we have to big up Lebo Malope as he walked the show once again so, South Aaah was in the building and well represented. Now getting into the show. A visual feast presentation wise and that’s something P and the team have never faulted on. The orchestra playing music that could fit the score of a Harry Potter movie was quite cool, giving the show a cinematic feel especially for us plebs who were watching from the screen. The runway with the stylish archives was a nice touch too. The collection had some fire pieces drawing a lot of inspiration from business core, a bit of workwear and Japanese city boy aesthetic.

The collection was “ready to wear`” focused which can be positive or negative depending on your taste and preference of what a runway show, and collection should comprise of. The footwear was quite interesting as P did tease a new LV sneaker that resembles the Nike’s Cortez. This shoe got mixed reviews due to what it resembles, which is baffling as the high fashion broes always borrow from sportswear (the Saint Laurent Jordan 1s, the Dior chucks, the list goes on). The sneaker does look delicious on feet and we know that the club ballers and bottle poppers are going to rock it while smelling like the most expensive and aggressive scent from Skins.

The show got mixed reviews some citing the fact that it wasn’t cohesive enough to be deemed a collection. Some still aren’t happy with P’s appointment, some love it. We are just happy that street wear and high end fashion are still in cahoots, the jury is still out on how long this will last though.
